This newly formed incorporation was conceived on July 10, 2017, due to the paucity in care for the elderly Vaisnavas in our spiritual communities at large. Some devotees, after giving their lives for the propagation and distribution of spirituality, find themselves alone, or in need of immediate custodial care. Some of them are currently homeless or transitioning, with severe health issues that should be addressed. This trend is unacceptable and painful to witness, especially for those of us who have benefited so much from their sacrifices.
Thus, a few of us have decided to make it our mission to change this. We have formed a team of compassionate individuals looking to provide suitable residences designed for extensive loving care, on a short or long term basis.
Higher Ground Devotional Care Foundation Inc., is an organization dedicated to fostering and facilitating the care of the elderly, infirm, and transitioning devotees & practitioners. Although the task at hand is formidable, the giving heart must accept it and boldly go forward. Our motto is: "NO Devotee Left Behind!" Please join us! Hare Krishna!

Rose Mary Rader a.k.a. Rasalila Devi is a native New Yorker who currently resides in Ohio. She has been an active member of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) since 1973 and became an initiated disciple of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami the following year.
Her initial experience in the home care field came from caring for friends and family members. Drawing on that experience, she later went on to work for companies in a professional setting, such as “Home Instead Senior Care”.
Having witnessed many changes within ISKCON throughout the years, she now feels a strong sense of urgency to help develop the “Higher Ground Devotional Care Foundation, Inc.,” in order to make compassionate home care more accessible to the members of the ISKCON and Spiritual Societies at large.

Joycelyn Pitts a.k.a. Jasoda Gokularani Devi is an experienced spiritualist who has always been inclined to help those who are less fortunate. After her primary education, she was employed in the health industry as a medical assistant and receptionist. She worked in a wide variety of facilities and group homes over the years with diverse clients ranging from visually impaired youth, special needs residents, to the elderly and disabled. She was introduced to ISKCON (International Society of Krishna Consciousness) in 1983 and took formal initiation in 2012. In 2011 she exclusively cared for the terminally ill and disabled members of spiritual communities and their family members. She expresses a great surprise at the lack of concern given to the elders, forepersons, pioneers, mentors, and trail blazers upon whose shoulders we all stand. Out of a genuine sense of obligation, gratitude and compassion, she and others are committed to seeing that "no devotee is left behind".

Lonna Hudson, a.k.a. Laxmi Honest, has been involved in the Krsna Consciousness Movement since the late 70's and accepted initiation in 1989. She was raised as a Baptist and has studied Kabbalah and certain new age modalities as well as being committed to Bhakti Yoga. She has worked as a bookkeeper for many years, and is aware of the financial concerns with end of life situations. Having cared for her parents in the last years of their lives, she became personally aware of the challenges of those all important final days. She is committed to the philosophy of Higher Ground Devotional Care initiative as she feels that there is a desperate need for spiritual understanding in the later days of our journey here on earth. It is her hope to bring understanding and acceptance to those who are facing the deterioration of the physical body and perhaps the fear of leaving this world. She feels that it is an important service to help those facing challenges and concerns of old age, disease and death and to serve most of all with love. When one is aware of the knowledge of how the soul lives on, it can be a great comfort in a very trying time.
